About Birdsboro
Birdsboro is a small Pointer kennel based in Williamston, Michigan. The people of Birdsboro include Erin Horan, a senior veterinary student (who will be graduating in May 2008), and Kyle Turner, an ecologist who works for an environmental consulting firm. We are only a kennel in the sense that we have a breeding program; all of our dogs are house dogs and we consider them to be our family. Further, our dogs are simply a wonderful hobby - we do not profit financially from them. Birdsboro is only in its beginnings, but our lines have a solid foundation on well-known dual-purpose (field and show) kennels. Birdsboro is committed to producing dogs that are sound in health, temperament, and structure with the potential to succeed in conformation and the field, and, above all, be beloved companions. Birdsboro has high hopes for the future.
Litters are only bred occasionally at Birdsboro, as I only plan breedings in an attempt to produce a Pointer for myself that will help me in my endeavor to better the breed. Puppies are raised in our home with plenty of care, love, and training to give them the best possible start. Our puppies are bred to be wonderful companions that have the potential to be a hunting buddy or show dog if their new families have an interest in that area. We are pleased to announce our highly anticipated 2008 litter. It has been five years since our last litter. This litter will be out of Brett and Boone. Puppies are expected around April 2, 2008. This means puppies will be ready to go home in early June. The litter will likely be all orange. We know that Boone carries for lemon, and there is a 50% chance that Brett does. If Brett does carry lemon, then we can expect about 25% of the litter to be lemon and white and 75% to be orange and white. If Brett does not carry lemon, then it will be an all orange litter. The litter has a stellar background in health, temperament, conformation, and hunting ability. These puppies will be amazing family members for anyone who is lucky enough to get one. They will be able to compete well in the show ring or be your hunting buddy if you so desire, but that is not expected. Please click on the Birdsboro Puppies link to take a look at my first litter, which was out of Boone and Maya and produced Garrett and Gavin. We will have new information up about our 2008 litter soon.
News
We are thrilled to brag that Birdsboro did fabulously at the American Pointer Club 2007 national. It was my first chance competing with dogs in a level beyond puppy or derby, and Boone and Garrett's first chance as well. We placed in all four regular stakes!
Boone placed third in Open Gun Dog and fourth in Amateur Gun Dog.
Brody placed third in Derby.
Brett placed fourth in Puppy.
Garrett did an awesome job and made me proud, but did not place in Open or Amateur (once due to my mistake as a handler, and once due to his mistake).
Brett also won best puppy in the fun match at the national. This is a fun, non-competitive event, but still we were very happy.
We will get pictures of the national up soon.

Clubs We Are Members Of
In 2001, I founded a Pointer rescue group called Pointers From Oz (on the web at www.pointers.petfinder.org). Since that time, I have taken in and adopted out over 200 dogs, mostly Pointers and other Birddogs. We have a lot of great dogs available for adoption, so please take a look if you are interested in a rescue dog. Check out the petfinder scroller below to see who is looking for their forever home now.
Other Pointer rescue groups include:
